New MY LITTLE PONY Fair Design Revealed!

Hasbro has outdone themeselves once again with this amazing design created for the MY LITTLE PONY Fair! I am absolutely loving this Firefly design.

It makes a great addition to the previously announced MY LITTLE PONY Fair logo:

Who doesn't love the allure of the Italy? I had the opportunity to visit this amazingly beautiful country a few years ago and immediately fell in love with it. I was able to experience the breathtaking cities of Rome, Florence, and Venice as well as travel through the countryside and take in the gorgeous sights on the coast.

While I was there, you know I hit up every toy shop I could find hoping to uncover some dusty My Little Pony relic. I did manage to find a MIB G2 playset tucked on shelf in a shop in Venice, but alas, my dreams of finding pristine mint on card 1980's Italian My Little Ponies were not realized.

I remember when Italian ponies were all the rage in the collecting community. Of course this was before the discovery of Greek, Argentinean, and Columbians. In 2001, I spent many a late night in my college dorm room reading about collectors' Italian pony acquisitions and trying to piece together the history of these foreign ponies by gathering information about their variations, their releases, and their distribution. Yeah, I realize that I probably should have been involved in a keg stand wearing pleather pants and a sequined top at some random frat party, but that glamorous life choice just wasn't in the cards for me.

A few years later, an Italian collector by the name of Roswita started up a web page devoted to Italian My Little Pony called, Mio Mini Pony. It hasn't been updated in ages, has a dodgy layout, and is still hosted by Tripod, but it has some great information if you are wanting to brush up on your Italian (ponies). The site offers detailed information on history, identification, and profiles and photos for several Italian pony characters. Check it out and let me know what you think!

New logo + New pony = Busy!

In case you were wondering, I have not abandoned ship and fully intend to continue blogging about all things My Little Pony. It just happens that I am extremely busy with MY LITTLE PONY Fair prep work and so all of the time I would normally use to write on My Little Pony Collector has been depleted.

The good news is I'm really really happy with how things are going for this year's Fair! A few awesome things were announced on the MY LITTLE PONY Fair's Facebook page last week including this awesome new logo.

Plus, photos and information were released for our limited edition pony figure which the MY LITTLE PONY Fair will be sharing with Comic Con.

While it may look deserted here and you start to notice the chirping of crickets, please know it isn't because I'm intentionally ignoring you. I just have lots of other pony stuff pulling me in different directions.

Accessory Madness!

If you read My Little Pony Collector with any frequency, you are already aware of my obsession with My Little Pony accessories. I love them! I can't get enough of the tiny toothbrushes, bitty bottles, glittery wands, or Big Brother bandannas. They are just too cute to resist and really fun to sort.

 I have a reoccurring dream that I find a huge bin of pony accessories and am filled with happiness because I get to dump them out and figure out which accessory came with which pony. Some people dream about winning the lottery...I dream about grasshopper combs. Don't judge.

 I've been meaning to share some photos of my accessory storage organization system ever since I blogged about my Ponywear organization mission. For the first time ever, all of my My Little Pony accessories are organized, I've checked them off in my handy dandy My Little Pony G1 Collector's Inventory book, and I've compiled a very detailed wish list for missing items. Now if I only had the spare time to search for the missing items, I'd be set.

I use these handy storage drawer containers made by a company called Akro-Mils. They have a variety of storage products, but I like to use the 24 drawer units. A few years ago, I was able to find them at Target, but the stores in my area no longer carry them. I did find them through Amazon for about the same price I paid.

Every pony set gets its own labeled drawer (in a few cases I have 2 sets share a drawer if there is lots of extra room in a drawer.) Do you notice the pink M Tape? I am still all about my labeler. One of my favorite things!


I assign a small clear baggie to each pony and put their name on the front and then place all of that pony's accessories inside as I check them off in The My Little Pony G1 Collector's Inventory . Currently, I haven't switched out all of the individual pony baggie labels with M Tape labels yet, but I hope to soon when I have some extra time. I love having all the little pieces correctly marked and easy to find.

Pony Project- Girl Power!

On Saturday night, the My Little Pony Project L.A. held its opening night at the Toy Art Gallery. We Love Fine hosted a live video feed from the event and I tuned in for a few minutes to watch people wave their arms and jump up and down in front of the camera obnoxiously, before deciding that I'd be much better served checking out the photos later (sans crazies). LA Weekly posted a great slide show of the event and I find it interesting that it highlights the artwork and the female fans almost exclusively. I'm sure that there were plenty of Bronies in attendance (I know I saw a few act a fool on the live feed), but from the photos you wouldn't know they were a presence. I guess I don't blame LA Weekly, girls typically look a lot better in rainbow wigs and glitter than most men!

Further Reading...Pony Style #3

I have only one missing My Little Pony from my Euro collection (Great Hair Highlights for those who might have her available for sale!) and just a handful of German exclusives left to hunt down so it is almost time for me to move on to another pony collecting focus. The question is which one? There are so many awesome foreign ponies from so many different places and it is going to be difficult to choose.

One country that I feel doesn't get as much pony love as it should is Mexico, and after checking out Mexican Pony Paradise, it may be a contender! Peppermint Truly has put together a great website devoted solely to My Little Ponies exclusively sold in Mexico. She is a native of Mexico City and she grew up with these unique ponies and luckily, she has chosen to share her knowledge and the history of them with the rest of us.
