Accessory Madness!

If you read My Little Pony Collector with any frequency, you are already aware of my obsession with My Little Pony accessories. I love them! I can't get enough of the tiny toothbrushes, bitty bottles, glittery wands, or Big Brother bandannas. They are just too cute to resist and really fun to sort.

I have a reoccurring dream that I find a huge bin of pony accessories and am filled with happiness because I get to dump them out and figure out which accessory came with which pony. Some people dream about winning the lottery...I dream about grasshopper combs. Don't judge.

I've been meaning to share some photos of my accessory storage organization system ever since I blogged about my Ponywear organization mission. For the first time ever, all of my My Little Pony accessories are organized, I've checked them off in my handy dandy My Little Pony G1 Collector's Inventory book, and I've compiled a very detailed wish list for missing items. Now if I only had the spare time to search for the missing items, I'd be set.

I use these handy storage drawer containers made by a company called Akro-Mils. They have a variety of storage products, but I like to use the 24 drawer units. A few years ago, I was able to find them at Target, but the stores in my area no longer carry them. I did find them through Amazon for about the same price I paid.

Every pony set gets its own labeled drawer (in a few cases I have 2 sets share a drawer if there is lots of extra room in a drawer.) Do you notice the pink M Tape? I am still all about my labeler. One of my favorite things!

I assign a small clear baggie to each pony and put their name on the front and then place all of that pony's accessories inside as I check them off in The My Little Pony G1 Collector's Inventory . Currently, I haven't switched out all of the individual pony baggie labels with M Tape labels yet, but I hope to soon when I have some extra time. I love having all the little pieces correctly marked and easy to find.

Feel free to share your pony organization ideas. I'd love to see what other collector do!

Organized Chaos!

You know how I often lament over the shameful condition of my office and my never ending quest to have an orderly workspace...

Here is my desk in all its chaotic messiness. The funny thing is that I know exactly where to find what I'm looking for. Still, there is no excuse for this insanity and by posting it for all the world to see hopefully it will shame me into getting things looking more professional.

I find it hysterical that there are three laptops on this desk. Apparently, I am so intense that I need multiple machines to do my bidding.

Mission: Organization

I just returned from my vacation where I spent time basking in the Florida sunshine but was greeted with snow and bitter cold upon my arrival home. It was a lovely trip full of beach reading, swimming, and walking along the shoreline.

Now that I'm home and it is officially the start of my new year, I have a series of To-Do lists that need to be acknowledged. The first and most pressing item is tackling the mess that is my office. I spent the whole of yesterday sorting, filing, and organizing. It is almost finished and I owe it all to this:

Seriously. I picked up one of these labelers while I was Office Depot replacing my 10 year old 3 in 1 printer that died a slow and painful death, and it has provided me with new found motivation to sort and organize. Plus, I picked up some fun pink labeling tape that I'll be using to label all of my individual pony accessory bags. The possibilities are endless!

I had a bunch of loose MLP Fair Promo cards and Friendship is Magic giveaway items that needed a home so I placed them in some plastic storage drawers and slapped on a label and now it brings a smile to my face just looking at them all neatly organized in their new home. It's the little things right?
If you look to the right, you can see one of the floral wall murals that will soon be no more. I just need to commit to a paint color. Suggestions?

I realize that this whole, "It's a new year and I'm going to get organized" thing is cliche, but if you had seen my office a few days ago, I'm pretty sure you would have suggested I hop aboard the organization bandwagon. So with my new P-touch labeler in one hand, and my to-do lists in the other, I say, "Bring it 2012."
