Planning, Packing, and Playing!

I've been a little light on posting this week due to lots of really awesome My Little Pony Fair planning stuff that is going on behind the scenes. I can't wait to share the newest developments with all of you!

I'm also packing for this weekend's Maryland Pony Meet event. I'll be there selling and signing copies of all of my book titles and no doubt finding something new to add to my collection. I had a chance to go through my accessory stash over the weekend and I found a slew of extras that will be up for grabs including Big Brother brushes, Prom Sister frills, and Baby necklaces galore. I can't wait to see some familiar faces, meet new pony fans, and talk ponies.

Speaking of packing, I'm kind of in love with this cute Bow-Tie suitcase. If only Hasbro had made it in standard luggage size, then I wouldn't need my boring navy luggage.

Maryland Pony Meet 2012

The deadline for registration for the 2012 Maryland Pony Meet (held April 28th) is April 21st. If you are thinking of joining other pony collectors for a day full of pony fun (and scooter races!) in the Baltimore area, head on over to MustBeJewel's website to check out all the details.

I've attended this event several times and always have a great time. Plus, Jewel is an awesome hostess and has a giant Sweetheart Sister in her pony room. I think that alone is worth the trip (in case you needed another reason to attend). I'll be there with a stack of books to sign and a few giveaway items at my table so stop by and say hello!

Pony Event Scrapbooking

If you've attended the national MLP Fair and Convention, or regional events held in the Midwest or the annual Maryland Meet your photo is most likely in my Pony Event Scrapbook. I have photographs from most of the pony-related events I've attended since 2002 and I've put them together in a massive pony-themed scrapbook. However, I'm not on top of things at the moment and have yet to add photos from this past year's convention in Las Vegas, MD Meet, and the Cinci Meet. Luckily, Walgreens is running a promotion for 9 cent prints and I'm totally taking advantage of it. I'm not typically a scrapbook person but I think the Pony Event Scrapbook is a fun way to document the craziness of one of my most beloved hobbies. Seriously, who else has photos of themselves holding plastic ponies next to street performers in San Francisco, sharing margaritas with a giant Pinkie Pie, or modeling a pony corset on the steps of a plantation house?

An Event to Remember

I'm back from a pony-filled weekend. I had a terrific time catching up with old friends and making a few new friends as well. I managed to win a raffle for a gigantic plush Sunny Daze and came home with a MLP McDonald's display as well as a few pony accessories. Thanks to everyone who purchased copies of my books! You were all so sweet. It was definately an event to remember as I bravely volunteered to model a My Little Pony corset for the live auction while people snapped multiple pictures to undoubtedly shame me on the internet at a later date.

Hats off to Julie (MustBeJewel) for organizing such an awesome meet!

Upcoming Collector Events

If you are wanting to attend a My Little Pony Collector event and can't quite swing the My Little Pony Fair in Vegas this year, east coasters do have a few options that are closer to home.

The Maryland Pony Meet will take place on May 16th in Baltimore, MD. This event is hosted by MustBeJewel and has attendees from as far away as Michigan and New York. Guests buy, sell, and trade MLPs as well as take part in a slew of organized games and contests. A live auctioneer is also present for the annual live auction. For more information, participants can visit the Maryland Pony Meet Page.

The Virginia Pony Meet will take place on August 22nd in Charlottesville, VA. This event is hosted by several Virginia collectors and headed up by SailorLibra. While this event is on a much smaller scale, it promises to be a great opportunity to meet fellow My Little Pony enthusiasts. This type of gathering is specially good for first time Pony Meet attendees. For more information, please contact SailorLibra through the MLPArena.

I'll be at the Maryland meet this year enjoying the festivities and signing copies of my books. I attended the event in both 2007 and 2008 and had a great time. Jewel is an amazing hostess and throws one heck of a pony meet! I'll also be attending the Virginia Pony Meet this year for the first time and will be doing a signing there as well.
